Reflections
A figure leans over a pool of water reminiscent of a pearl oyster, as light hits the surface creating patterns and reflections.
This piece was inspired by challenging the idea of what is ordinary, and how ordinary can be ‘normal’ but still feel special/extra-ordinary – the image of a person mid-thought.
As a viewer we don’t know what they’re thinking about.
A typical portrait of a girl? – make it pink!
This mixed-media artwork was inspired by family visits to Whitstable, famous for its oyster farming and the oyster motif corresponds with rumination around a place that many find peaceful and inspiring of deep thought.
This image ties into the current exhibition theme of loss and grief as my uncle was very ill at the time of making this, which unknowingly influenced the creative process; the piece is solemn and moody, despite the bright-colour theme.
What thoughts or feelings seem to circle your mind when you look out at the sea or at this piece?
