Distance

Richard Jones

Poetry
She awakes innocently
from her peaceful sleep
and as she peers
trustingly into my eyes
I feel the
wholeness of a sibling’s love.
So many words cannot
define the desire
to fulfil the
delicate role of brotherhood
for now that I am here
I fear she will not know me.
And as she
blossoms out of childhood
the years we shared
may drift afar
becoming a mere faintful picture.
