Mixed-media

This artwork depicts a scene of a distressed woman in a healthcare setting, with a robotic hand offering itself – showing the decision and unease that lies with patients.

The background comprises of a noticeboard, bookshelf and painting. The noticeboard references well known women’s health conditions and the bookshelf cites lesser-known conditions. The layout of this composition also represents a GP setting, where AI has already begun to play a role aiding consultations.

The painting depicts a scene of diversity insinuating that Al has wider applications to offer the general population. By contrast, the hand is sculpted from clay depicting how Al is not fully integrated within healthcare today and bearing imperfections evidencing that Al is still under development.

The outstretched hand is waiting for women to accept assistance.

This suggests that the support Al can offer is constant and it is our choice to use it. The person not entirely within the frame symbolises how women are often overlooked when dealing with their health concerns.
