The Meeting

Emily Rigby

Poetry
Some light,
Catching on a single drop
spark,
Initiating a connection
A Deep vision,
brushing a nerve
triggering a vague recollection,
a passing thought

Then…
A memory
An inexpressible feeling
Something hitting you within, intense in your soul,

A subtle change,
Felt
not understood
not acknowledged

With that missed beat the darkness lightens,
Colour
blurred
warm around the edges…

With indescribable clarity: A Realisation, An understanding
Undepicted by words or explanation, Valued

But Only by Two

The darkness lightened by the sun, fading into another day
The time of Unity,
Connection,
fades
Yet still…

Remembered
Acknowledged

Just a smile

I wanted to emphasize that so many meetings make a difference in ways that we do not always notice. Each interaction that we have with those around us shapes us as a person.

I wanted to write about one of those times when you meet a stranger and share a situation, a feeling or a certain moment. Without realizing it, there is a change which affects you in some way you will never try to, or know how to describe, and only that one other person will understand.
