Thin blue line wrapped around the world

The more you engage with the ocean the more global the energy you feel.  Everything in the ocean is on the move either with tides or migrating on currents. Every drop of water rotates around an ocean in around 500 years and around the world in around 2000 years.  This is a powerful meditation, especially if you are underwater at the time. However, it is also brings into focus that any impact on the ocean is amplified or distributed due to the mercurial nature of aquatic life.

This collection of images, each from a different country, sea or ocean, is to help us keep the world’s oceans in focus with examples from around the world laid out before us.  They all come from the thin line of water around the surface of our planet.

When I think about something happening around the world, I picture it from the ocean’s perspective looking back at land. This is unusual, I appreciate that and feel lucky to have that much experience of the world’s oceans. This makes it especially important for me to be around like-minded people with projects like this one.
