The Reach

Group 21

This series of drawings depicts inequality in funding of different types of cancers in the NHS. We used photography to depict different hands all reaching out desperately for a dominant hand – all competing for attention. This signifies how some cancers dominate the attention of the media, health services and government spending. An example is breast cancer which receives the largest amount of funding and although this is proving effective, cancers with higher risk of mortality such as lung cancer are receiving less funding.
