Little Girl Lost

Charlotte Davies

‘Little Girl Lost’ is a poem written about a patient, her feelings whilst suffering from clinical depression and how it felt to overcome this. The poem uses metaphors of moonlight, and a darkening sky to represent mood, with the point of treatment and recovery symbolized by a strong breeze pushing aside the clouds.

I chose to illustrate my poem with an image of a woman surrounding the words. She is pictured turning away, as if in shame and fear, but instead it is apparent that she is turning towards a bright light, echoing the symbolism of my poem. This piece was quite challenging and not at all straightforward to undertake, but though a little daunting at first, I did enjoy the freedom to be creative.
