They described how there was an ‘eerie, compelling light’ and ‘even the little scuttling clouds shone white’.
In this painting Dorothy drew upon her visual memory and attempted to re-create the ‘primordial quality’ of that particular night sky.
Two years ago Dorothy sustained severe and multiple physical injuries. She feels that handling natural materials – particularly wood and wool has a healing effect. Being part of an ongoing group dynamic is very important to Dorothy – her motto is ‘Strength through Unity’ and she suggests that art practice and observation have helped to restore her damaged memory and facilitate connection-making.
Dorothy says ‘creative work gives us ways of reflecting on the events in our lives.’
